I am in seven heaven these days. You might wonder what the hell I am talking about. Obviously I am in seven heaven, once who couldn’t able to buy five rupees chocolate kids is now eating snickers chocolate almost every day.
Ya, I am talking about my childhood… when I get a coin, I just run straight to nearby shop to buy some candy. For the sake of some coins I used to steal beer bottles from restaurants and sell it to baiya (dhoti). Sometimes I get kicked and sometime I get slapped. All I could do is turn away with full of tears.
Wearing uniform like other kids was obviously daydreaming not because I don't wanted too but my parent couldn’t effort to get uniform for me. So I keep hanging around in the park among flowers and shrubs keeping eyes on lawn thinking I could able to find a coin or 10 rupees note. Luckily if I find notes then I just run straight either to candy shops or marble shops to buy marbles. Marble was my favourite indoor game at the time because I could able to make some coins from it.
But now neither I need to keep eyes on lawn nor steal bottles from restaurants. Now I am wearing uniform and attending daily class in Namgyal Higher Secondary School like other students. It's not, because of my effort or my parents but helped of charity organization.
So, if charity work can do such wonder then why don’t we collect few coins for those children, who suffer from poverty? There are millions of children who only dream of school. According to the source of Nepal Demographics Profile 2012, it is estimate that 51.4% are illiterate and through other source it is estimate that 65% are illiterate. It is estimate that 20 millions Nepali are living under poverty.
I know, you don’t want to see those poor kids working restlessly in restaurants and so on. You wish to see smile and happiness in their innocent face. You might be thinking about those poor kids but unable to do something good not because you don’t have potential but lacking something.
Don’t worry; you can use pink piggy bank or some empty jar to deposit your loose change. In place of leaving change from bus or microbus while traveling, take and deposit in the jar or in your piggy bank…after couples of month you will see your piggy bank become heavier and jar getting fill up. Look around your area and donate to the needy one, whatever weather it is school or some charity organization or something else. It's better for you if you know the detail about school or charity organization before you donate your coins…
